Safeguarding Policy

Effective date: 26 November 2025

PPE Success (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Avalon Education Limited, is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people we work with. This policy explains how we protect students under the age of 18 who engage with our tutoring services and sets out the responsibilities of our staff, tutors, and parents/guardians.

 

1. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All staff, tutors, contractors, and volunteers working with us.

  • All students under the age of 18 who participate in tutoring sessions or engage with our services.

  • Parents or guardians of students.

 

2. Our Safeguarding Principles

We are committed to:

  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of all students.

  • Treating all students with respect and dignity.

  • Recognising and responding appropriately to signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

  • Promoting an environment where students feel safe and supported.

  • Complying with UK safeguarding laws and guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and the Children Act 1989 & 2004.

 

3. Responsibilities

Our Tutors and Staff Must:

  • Understand and follow this Safeguarding Policy.

  • Treat all students with respect and maintain professional boundaries.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

  • Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure one-to-one sessions are conducted safely.

Parents/Guardians Should:

  • Provide accurate information about the student’s needs and any relevant medical or safeguarding considerations.

  • Inform us of any concerns regarding the student’s safety during sessions.

 

4. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

  • We appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who is responsible for:

    • Receiving and managing safeguarding concerns.

    • Maintaining records of any concerns or incidents.

    • Liaising with relevant authorities if necessary.

  • All safeguarding concerns must be reported to our DSL immediately.

 

5. Recognising Abuse

Abuse may include physical, emotional, sexual abuse or neglect. Our staff and tutors must be alert to:

  • Unexplained injuries or behavioural changes

  • Inappropriate sexualised behaviour

  • Signs of neglect, such as poor hygiene or lack of food

  • Any disclosure of harm or risk from a student

 

6. Reporting and Recording Concerns

  • Any safeguarding concern must be reported immediately to our DSL.

  • Records of concerns should include:

    • Student’s name, age, and contact information

    • Date, time, and nature of the concern

    • Actions taken and by whom

  • All records are kept confidential and secure.

 

7. Online Safety

  • Online tutoring sessions are conducted via secure platforms approved by us.

  • Tutors avoid extraneous communication with students.

  • Parents/guardians are informed about online sessions and must consent to participation.

 

8. Working with External Agencies

  • We may involve external agencies (e.g., social services, police) if a student is at risk of harm.

  • Our staff and tutors cooperate fully and provide accurate information when requested.

 

9. Policy Review

  • We review this policy annually or sooner if changes in legislation or our practices require it.

  • Updates are communicated to all staff, tutors, and parents/guardians.
